Cookie Policy

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies such as local storage work in the same way. This policy explains which cookies AJS Refurbishments uses on this website, what they do and how you control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.

Our approach

No cookie, script, pixel, tracker, embedded map or third party embed is loaded on this site until you have given consent for its category. Until then, only strictly necessary items run. The fonts used on this site are hosted on our own server, so no request is made to any third party before you choose.

Cookie categories

Strictly necessary, always on

These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They do not track you and are not used for advertising.

Name Purpose How long it lasts
ajs_cookie_consent Remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked again on every page 6 months
PHPSESSID or similar Keeps the connection to the web server working during your visit End of the browser session
wordpress_logged_in and wp-settings Set only if you log in to the website as an administrator Up to 12 months

Analytics, off until you allow it

These would tell us how many people visit the site and which pages are useful, so we can improve it. They are only loaded once you have given consent for analytics. If we are not currently running an analytics tool, allowing this category has no effect.

Marketing, off until you allow it

These would allow advertising platforms to measure whether an advert led to an enquiry, and to show relevant adverts elsewhere. They are only loaded once you have given consent for marketing.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your mind at any time. Select Cookie Settings in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and change or withdraw your consent. Withdrawing consent stops any further non essential cookies being set.

You can also delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, though this may stop parts of some websites working.

Proof of consent

When you make a choice we record the choice itself, the categories you allowed or refused, the date and time, and a one way hashed reference. We keep this record for 12 months as evidence that consent was given freely, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and the UK GDPR.
