Our commitment

AJS Refurbishments wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard only navigation, screen magnification or voice control. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA, and we take our duties under the Equality Act 2010 seriously.

What we have done

Every page uses proper HTML5 landmarks with a single main heading and a logical heading order.
A skip to content link appears as soon as you press Tab, so keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, and shows a clear visible focus outline.
Text and background combinations meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for body text.
Every image carries descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
All form fields have visible labels that are linked to their inputs, and errors are announced with clear, specific wording rather than colour alone.
The cookie banner moves focus to itself when it opens, can be operated entirely by keyboard, never traps focus and is announced to screen readers.
Animation and transitions are reduced automatically if your device is set to prefer reduced motion.
Text can be resized to 200 percent and the layout reflows to a single column on small screens without loss of content.
The site works without JavaScript for reading content and submitting enquiry forms.

Known limitations

Some older project photographs were supplied at a lower resolution and may appear soft when magnified heavily. We replace them with better versions as new photographs become available.
